It was all smiles from B’nai Brith president David Mostyn (left) and MP Michael Levitt (right), Chair of the Canada Israel Parliamentary Friendship Group, as Federal Minister of Canadian Heritage Pablo Rodriguez released the Federal government’s long awaited anti-racism strategy. But despite their brave faces, Israel’s lobbyists were not able to get criticism of Israel defined as “racism” in the federal document. In fact, Israel is not even mentioned. Read more.
Jewish Canadian David Kattenburg was appalled as he watched right wing nationalist Israeli fanatics (left) sing and wave Israeli flags in front of the Damascus Gate (in occupied Palestinian Territory) a few days ago. On the same day, another Canadian, this one of Palestinian origin, watched Israeli police storm into the Al Aqsa mosque using tear gas to disperse Muslim worshippers. “This is what fascism looks like”, said Kattenberg. A legal case contesting the Liquor Control Board of Ontario’s right to market wine produced in illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank as a “Product of Israel” was launched in 2017 by Winnipeg native David Kattenburg. BFF in happier times: Trudeau (with Likud blue tie) and Netanyahu (with Liberal red one). But after reading the recent UN report on Israeli crimes in Gaza, Trudeau has decided to go to see for himself.
