Prime Minister Trudeau based himself on sound principles when he condemned Russia’s attack on Ukraine. But his statement opposing occupation, defending sovereignty and referencing international law, showed how willing he is to invoke these principles when it suits him, while ignoring the same principles when it doesn’t.
