Ahmed Alnaouq, 23, graduated from Al-Azhar University in Gaza City, with a bachelor’s degree in English literature. A resident of the Gaza community of Deir Albalah, he says his dream is to advance the cause of Palestinian human rights and to expose the “human face” of the Israeli occupation. Palestinian member of Israeli Knesset proposes new “basic law” for Israel inspired by Canadian multiculturalism
Dr. Yousef Jabareen is an elected Palestinian member of the Israeli Knesset (or Parliament). He visited Canada in 2016 to better understand Canada’s approach to minority issues. He has proposed a new “basic law” for Israel, in part inspired by Canada’s policy of multiculturalism. “Is Ahed Tamimi really Palestinian?”
Sixteen year old Ahed Tamimi became a poster girl for the new Palestinian resistance after she was videoed defending her brother and family by defiantly slapping an Israeli soldier on her family property in the West Bank in December. Senior Israeli politicians argued to CBC that she is too “western looking” to really be Palestinian. Read more.
