“Fifty years of occupation demands action”- Catholic Bishops

When they were blocked from entering Gaza in 2015 to meet with the Christian community there, a delegation of Catholic Bishops from around the world did a spontaneous “pray-in” in front of the checkpoint. After a 6 hour wait, embarrassed Israeli officials allowed the Bishops to enter. Powerful voices in the Catholic Church are speaking out about the occupation of the West Bank and Gaza. Read more. Do you think Trudeau should talk more about human rights for Palestinians?

Justin Trudeau said that Canada was back…but on Israel/Palestine, we’re mostly seeing more of the same Harper policy. Publicly, Trudeau claims to have a “balanced” position and says he supports a “2 state solution”. But in fact, it seems the Trudeau government almost always sides with Israel. Pro-Israel lobby groups attack Liberals over resumption of UNRWA funding

UNRWA (the UN’s relief agency for Palestinian refugees) runs schools and medical clinics for millions of Palestinians. Prime Minister Harper cut off Canada’s financial contribution in 2012. Mr. Trudeau just reinstated it. The Israel lobby is angry and wants it reversed. Read more… (more…)
