“Fifty years of occupation demands action”- Catholic Bishops

When they were blocked from entering Gaza in 2015 to meet with the Christian community there, a delegation of Catholic Bishops from around the world did a spontaneous “pray-in” in front of the checkpoint. After a 6 hour wait, embarrassed Israeli officials allowed the Bishops to enter. Powerful voices in the Catholic Church are speaking out about the occupation of the West Bank and Gaza. Read more. Major Israel lobby group begins Canada-wide consultations with Jewish community

Do you think Trudeau should talk more about human rights for Palestinians?

Justin Trudeau said that Canada was back…but on Israel/Palestine, we’re mostly seeing more of the same Harper policy. Publicly, Trudeau claims to have a “balanced” position and says he supports a “2 state solution”. But in fact, it seems the Trudeau government almost always sides with Israel. Leading Palestinian legislator shot by Israeli police during demonstration in southern Israel

Ayman Odeh, the soft spoken Palestinian Israeli who is the leader of the “Arab Joint List” in the Israeli Knesset (parliament) was shot by police during a demonstration in Southern Israel. He was hit by at least one rubber coated bullet and perhaps another one which struck his head. Odeh was treated in hospital and later released. Odeh was in Canada last year for meetings with Canadian Parliamentarians. Read more. (more…)
