Dr. Tarek Loubani entranced a sell-out crowd of about 300 in Ottawa on January 14th with his graphic descriptions of working as an emergency doctor in Gaza under fire from Israeli army snipers. In a break from precedent, Canada voted in favour of a motion supporting self-determination for the Palestinians at the United Nations General Assembly last December – despite the objections of Israel, the USA and the Israel lobby in Canada. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wrote an urgent letter to Prime Minister Trudeau imploring him to oppose the decision of the International Criminal Court to investigate Israel for potential war crimes. The ICC investigation, if it can’t be stopped, will be a big problem for both Trudeau and Netanyahu.
