Canada’s new Minister of Global Affairs, Chrystia Freeland, has finally spoken out about Israel – well sort of. Despite many recent Israeli violations of Palestinian human rights both in the occupied territories and inside Israel itself, a recent announcement seems to show her main preoccupation lies with promoting an increasingly improbable two state solution. Green Party of Canada ratifies motion to increase pressure on Israel

“Fifty years of occupation demands action”- Catholic Bishops

When they were blocked from entering Gaza in 2015 to meet with the Christian community there, a delegation of Catholic Bishops from around the world did a spontaneous “pray-in” in front of the checkpoint. After a 6 hour wait, embarrassed Israeli officials allowed the Bishops to enter. Powerful voices in the Catholic Church are speaking out about the occupation of the West Bank and Gaza. Read more. Justin Trudeau said that Canada was back…but on Israel/Palestine, we’re mostly seeing more of the same Harper policy. Publicly, Trudeau claims to have a “balanced” position and says he supports a “2 state solution”. But in fact, it seems the Trudeau government almost always sides with Israel.
