“Canadians are not antisemitic, but they are appalled by what the Jewish State of Israel is doing”, OFIP tells senate committee

OFIP was invited to appear before the Senate Standing Committe on Human Rights which is undertaking a study on the rise of antisemitism in Canada. We told the Senate that we think that fears over antisemitism are overblown. Canadians are not antisemitic. But 2/3 of Canadians think that what Israel – a Jewish State – is doing in Gaza is “morally outrageous”. Will anybody try to claim this is antisemitic?

Over a hundred Jews and allies briefly occupied the Confederation building in Ottawa in a peaceful sit-in on Parliament Hill on Tuesday, December 3rd calling for a full and immediate arms embargo against Israel. In song, prayer, and speeches, they called for our politicians to end Canada’s arming of Israeli genocide in Gaza. Learn more.

Standing on a panel with Prime Minister Trudeau (l) and Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow (r), Ontario Premier Doug Ford implicitly fingered “immigrants” as the culprits in a recent shooting at a Toronto girls school. While he didn’t mention any specific immigrant communities, it was clear he was pointing to Arab/Palestinian/Muslim Canadians. This a police issue that should be treated seriously. Read more…
