April 1, 2025.

In a move widely believed aimed at heading off opposition criticism of CBC, Marco Mendocino, Chief of Staff to Prime Minister Mark Carney announced today that Conrad Black will take over as head of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. “We believe Baron Black`s past experience both as a successful businessman and as former publisher of the Jerusalem Post makes him an exceptionally qualified nominee for this important post,” said Mendocino.

Black was unavailable for immediate comment but released a statement later the same day.

“I am delighted to have been asked by Prime Minister to take over the CBC and lead it into new directions,” said Black. “Henceforth the CBC will adopt a straightforward pro-Zionist editorial policy. I am looking forward to getting to work putting the CBC “back on track”.

To this end he released a few key new directives for CBC effective immediately:

  • In order to ensure accuracy and balance in reporting, all CBC articles relating to the Israel/Palestine conflict will henceforth be sent to IDF censors before publication,
  • As a cost cutting measure, the CBC Office of the Ombudsman will be abolished. Beginning April 1, the CBC newsroom will report to Honest Reporting Canada.
  • CBC will no longer cite antisemitic, terrorist-friendly sources such as Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, the Israeli human rights organization B’Tselem or the United Church of Canada.
  • Any reference to Palestinian organizations must henceforth be accompanied by the adjectives “terrorist”, or “antisemitic”. As in – “terrorist-affiliated Palestinian kindergardens”, or “antisemitic Palestinian ambulances”, etc.
  • CBC will not tolerate any comparison of the actions of Israel with those of Nazi Germany. In fact, they are totally opposite. The Nazi program was to rid Germany of Jews. The Israeli program is to rid Greater Israel of non-Jews!!
  • CBC will avoid reporting on facts which cause discomfort to the Israel lobby in Canada or elsewhere. Any “inconvenient truths` will be retracted or replaced within 24 hours, with an appropriate apology.
  • Henceforth, CBC policy will be that anti-zionism is a new form of anti-semitism. Any attempt to argue the contrary is itself proof of antisemitism.

Have a great day!!

  1. I have to admit, you had my heart starting to pick up pace and I was making whispered protests of “It can’t be, it can’t be” when I looked at this on my phone. When I opened the email, I spotted the date at the top and began to breathe normally again. Well done, though you made me think about Conrad Black so it all came at a cost.

  3. Peter, this is Brilliant!!

I am especially pleased, as a United Church of Canada minister who has long been pressing the United Church to get on board for Palestine, that you included Black’s banning of the United Church along with Amnesty, B’Tselem, etc.

    Thanks, Peter!

  5. Hi Peter

At first I was in shock before I clued in.

Do they have April Fools Day In France?

  6. Caught me too but Carney’s chief of staff is a terrorist when viewed from a non Zionist perspective. CBC really already fails to cover the reality of Zionism in Canada. No mention of Engler’s jailing. I believe the situation in Canada is pretty much the same as US. For a US perspective I would respect the opinion of Chicago U political science professor John Mearshiemer: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Wwn7nBUJi7Q
