Two conscientious objectors who have each served time in prison for refusing to serve in the Israeli army while it commits genocide in Gaza, are touring Canada thanks to Independent Jewish Voices Canada. Read more…
Israeli conscientious objectors Tal Mitnick and Einat Gerlitz were in Ottawa on March 8th speaking at St. Paul University about their experiences resisting genocide and why they refused to serve in the Israeli military.

Mitnick and Gerlitz were hosted by the Carleton University chapter of Independent Jewish Voices Canada (IJV) on March 8 as part of a cross Canada tour to speak about war resisters in the movement for a free Palestine and nonviolent resistance to Zionist fascism in Israel.
They were joined on the platform by Palestinian Amani Abu Ramadan, whose children were killed by Israeli bombs without having the right to “opt out” – like many others they were trapped in Gaza.
IJV has partnered with the Mesarvot Network on this tour, which also features speakers from the Palestinian solidarity movement in Canada.
Mesarvot’s mandate is to support and raise the profile of young Israelis who refuse to be part of Israel’s war machine. These speakers share an anti-Zionist perspective aiming to build a broad coalition in order to defeat the ongoing forces of oppression within and outside Israel.
The cross Canada tour continues through March. Find an event near you!
