Mennonite Central Committee issues a “Cry for home”

Mennonite Central Committee Canada (MCC), a Christian relief, development, and peacebuilding agency, has recently launched an educational campaign called “Cry for Home” focussing on the ongoing human tragedy in Israel/Palestine.  I interviewed Rick Cober Bauman, Executive Director of MCC Canada about the campaign. Carleton adult ed course on Israel/Palestine sold out again – but lectures now available on YouTube!!

Many Canadians are confused and conflicted over the Israel/Palestine issue. They feel sorry for the Palestinians, but worry about security for Jews.  A long waiting list for a six week adult education course at Carleton University this fall seems to show that many are concerned and want to understand more.  Although this course is already oversold, a shortened version of six free 1 hour lectures is available on the CTIP YouTube channel. Church group launches petition calling on Minister Freeland to oppose imminent demolition of two more Palestinian villages

For more than a year, the tiny impoverished Palestinian village of Susiya has been under threat of demolition to make way for more Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank. UWO rejects pressure from Israeli lobby group over UN special rapporteur

UN Watch, a pro-Israel lobby group based in Geneva has attacked the University of Western Ontario for providing office support to law professor Michael Lynk, who was named two years ago by the UN as a Special Rapporteur on the Palestinian territories. “Ending the occupation is not enough”: US human rights organization

But just last year, America’s largest umbrella organization defending human rights for Palestinians changed its name from “US Campaign to End the Occupation” to the “US Campaign for Palestinian Rights”.
