Salman Abu Sitta was ten years old when his Palestinian village was overrun by Zionist forces and his family forced to take refuge in Gaza. His life in exile took him to many countries, including Canada where he became a citizen, taught at UWO and even helped found the Canadian Arab Federation. But he never gave up thinking about and planning for the day when he and his family would return to the land from which he was expelled. Palestinian American author Noura Erekat to do 3 city Canadian speaking tour in September

Well-known Palestinian American academic lawyer and author Noura Erekat will be making a 3 city speaking tour in Canada in September. She is a frequent commentator on CNN and elsewhere. Her tour is organized by Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME). She has been very critical of the “peace process” and the so-called two state solution. Read more.

United Church activists to gather in Ottawa on Sept 13 – 15 to develop support for Palestinian human rights

Seeking support from Israel lobby, Andrew Scheer joins Trump’s campaign to destroy UN agency for Palestinian refugees

Andrew Scheer announced last week that if elected, he would eliminate Canadian support for UNRWA, a United Nations agency that provides assistance to millions of Palestinian refugees.  A leaked internal audit alleging mismanagement at the top of UNRWA has given the Israel lobby an excuse to demand ending Canadian funding for the organization. Destroying UNRWA is part of the Trump administration’s plan to compel the Palestinians to accept the so-called “Deal of the Century”.
