Human Rights Watch calls for western governments to suspend aid to Palestinian security forces ‘until human rights abuses stop’

Canada began providing financial (and military) help to the security forces of the Palestinian Authority (PA) under the Harper government. Human Rights Watch claims that those PA security forces are implicated in widespread arbitrary arrest and torture. Many human rights activists in the West Bank say the PA is more active in defending Israel than the rights of Palestinians. Read more.

New Ottawa-based organization to promote serious discussion and public education on Israel/Palestine

On September 27th, two Ottawa organizations will fuse into a new one with expanded capacity to promote serious discussion and public education on the complex Israel/Palestine issue. Is Dimitri Lascaris really anti-Semitic?

Any Canadian who tries to defend human rights for Palestinians knows that they run the risk of being called “anti-Semitic”.  But when Prime Minister Trudeau (l) called out Dimitri Lascaris (r) a well known Palestinian human rights activist, accusing him of “vile anti-Semitic smears”  a lot of people took notice. Is Lascaris guilty as charged, or is he being unfairly smeared by the Prime Minister? Read more.

SodaStream is an environmentally friendly product that puts fizz into ordinary tap water. It has been very popular. But many CTIP readers have a problem with Sodastream because it is made in Israel and they want to support the international movement to boycott Israel over its violations of Palestinian human rights.
