Massacring unarmed civilians is unacceptable morally. There is no justification for it. The Ottawa Forum on Israel/Palestine shares the sentiment of the National Council of Canadian Muslims.
While I welcome this statement, I find it sad that people even mention the religion or ethnicity of the innocent victims and the heroic rescuer in a situation like this. As many have said (in many ways) all people are created equal and endowed with inalienable rights. In spite of that, our world continues to discriminate on the basis of ethnicity. Our leaders behave as if some lives were worth more than others.
If a dozen people were murdered in a Mosque, or in Gaza, or in the Occupied West Bank, it would not get this amount of attention. I have never seen an organization like the CIJA issue a statement expressing their horror at the unjust killing of people in Gaza or the OWB.
Thanks Peter, very well said and I agree completely. I tried to simply click on “like” but was redirected to just replying.

I acknowledge that, here in Nova Scotia, we are in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People.
