Under the theme of anti-racist solidarity, Independent Jewish Voices Canada will hold a major conference in Toronto on June 16/17. It features a number of high profile speakers from Canada and elsewhere. CTIP spoke to Mitchell Plitnick, a leading American activist and one of the invited guests who will be in Toronto for the event. See the video interview with Plitnick below….
Mitchell Plitnick, co-author (along with Marc Lamont Hill) of “Except for Palestine: The limits of progressive politics” will be one of the headliners at IJV’s 15th Anniversary conference to be held in Toronto on June 16/17. Plitnick is a former vice president of the Foundation for Middle East Peace and former US director of B’Tselem. He is currently President of Rethinking Foreign Policy.
Independent Jewish Voices Canada (IJV) invites the general public to join them in Toronto from June 16 to 17 for IJV’s 15th Anniversary Conference: Anti-racist solidarity and the fight for justice in Palestine. The conference will take place Friday-Saturday followed by the 2023 IJV Annual General Meeting on Sunday, June 18. The AGM will be hybrid in-person and online, with the option to join via Zoom.
Prior to the conference, CTIP caught up with Plitnick to ask him a few questions. When asked what his main “message” would be to the conference attendees, Plitnick said it is important for activists to remember that they have little influence over the Israeli government. “But we can and should influence our own governments in the USA and Canada”.
More information about the conference, as well as a link to register, can be found here.
